Our People
Our people strategy is quite simple: we attract,
we develop, you perform, we reward, we engage you, and you grow towards
becoming outstanding individuals with us. We focus our efforts on
ensuring our policies, initiatives and programmes are aligned with this
strategy. We believe these efforts require the commitment of the
company, the individual employee and the team, thus focus is also placed
in nurturing, developing and recognising team efforts.
Our people are passionate about the products
and solutions that we deliver under a unique culture of looking out for
one another in terms of safety, work/life balance, and importantly, the
team spirit amongst all the employees in the business units within Industrial
division.
Developing Our People
Sime Darby Industrial has been investing
in training for employees as well as educating customers on technical and
management skills. It stands by its vision in giving commitment to develop
people training programmes that meet the industry standards and customers’
needs.
The ‘Management Trainee Programme’ (MTP)
is a well-structured, comprehensively designed training programme covering
all aspect of the corporate world from corporate management to operations.
Trainees are put through many team projects and technicalities of the products
in the Sime Darby Industrial.
The company is also committed in developing
the finest technicians and product support specialists through the Apprenticeship
Programme. Under this programme, the technicians (apprentices) have to
undergo life simulation and practical sessions for a specific duration.
All apprentices follow a systematic and well structured programme through
CASTT (Caterpillar Apprentice Service Technical Training), which is aligned
to customers’ needs.
Apart from specialising in training our own
heavy equipment specialists, Sime Darby Industrial Academy in Tractors
Engineering complex in Puchong trains customers and the public by offering
government approved courses that lead to a Malaysian Skill Certification
under Ministry of Human Resources. In fact, Sime Darby Industrial
Academy is the first private sector organization in the country to receive
the approval of the City & Guilds (C&G) of London Institute in
the United Kingdom and Malaysia’s Ministry of Education, to conduct C&G
professional examinations relevant to the heavy equipment business.

supported with proven performance and contributions. These opportunities
come in the form of promotions, job rotations, short term assignments,
on-job-training, coaching / mentoring, and formal training. These opportunities
form part of the steps that we take in grooming our people to unleash their
